Meet the Aspire Performance & Nutrition Team

Luke Rodriguez, NDTR, MSc

Aspire Performance & Nutrition was founded by Luke Rodriguez and is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Luke holds a Bachelors of Science in Health Care Science and his Master of Science in Sports Nutrition University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (UCCS) . He is currently researching Relative Energy Deficiency Syndrome (RED-S) and the literacy of major sport organization coaches within the United States, in an attempt to increase education and awareness.

Luke is a XC/Track coach for Palmer Ridge High School in Monument, Colorado, and is a former Division II cross country and track athlete for UCCS. He also teaches 6th grade Science at Monument Academy Middle School. He welcomes additional freelance writing opportunities, partnerships, and public speaking engagements.

Luke's passion for coaching stems from his own experience of toxic coaches and great coaches/mentors. These experiences created his desire to impact others in a positive, meaningful way that builds habits and ideals that stick with athletes for life. His goal is to coach athletes to great athletic success, but also to teach them valuable lessons they may pass on to others.

Luke's philosophy is based on the training fundamentals of endurance coaches such as Jack Daniels, Joe Vigil, and Lisa Rainsberger. Outside of the training schematics, he believes that running itself is just one piece of the puzzle for success in this sport. He believes nutrition, mindset, strength training, biomechanics, and recovery need to be optimized to complete the puzzle. He strives to treat every athlete as a person and individual first and reflect that through their training. Ultimately, he aims to help individuals become a better version of themselves!

Credentials:

Luke holds the Nutrition and Dietetic Technician, Registered (NDTR) accreditation through Commission on Dietetic Registration. He has a BSc in Health Care Science & Nutrition (2021) from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (UCCS) and his MSc in Sports Nutrition (~2023) from the same institution. He is also a USATF Level 1 Coach, Jack Daniels VDOT O2 Certified Coach, and SafeSport Certified.

Professional Memberships:

Luke is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Sports and Human Performance Dietetic Practice Group, the Nutrition Entrepreneurs Dietetic Practice Group, and the USATF Coaching Registry.

Experience:

Luke is currently a distance coach with Palmer Ridge XC/Track in Monument, Colorado and also teaches 6th-grade Science at Monument Academy Middle School. He was a former coach with Kokopelli Racing Team and a Division II XC and Track Athlete for the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.
